Desert Shadows Tennis Institute

The Desert Shadows Tennis Institute

Construction continues at the SUMMIT Athletic Club in St. George Utah! Due to open February 2005, the SUMMIT will be home to David Smith's Desert Shadows Tennis Institute.

Lights go up! The four Championship Tennis Courts at The SUMMIT!

Coming in the Winter of 2005, players can MASTER TENNIS at Dave Smith’s Desert Shadows Tennis Institute! A $7 million dollar tennis, swim and fitness center called the St. George Athletic Center will be Dave’s new tennis home…and home of a new approach to learning the game of tennis!
At the Tennis Institute, players will undergo a true tennis “transformation”…a genuine, player development program that starts first with training the mind.
Tennis camps across the country have, historically offered tennis tips, suggestions, and new stroke patterns. Unfortunately, 98% of the students return to their home courts and promptly revert back to their flawed—yet comfortable—stroke patterns and habits! All players who are introduced to new concepts must change their perception. This change is paramount to the complete acquisition of more productive and more highly skilled stroke patterns.
At Desert Shadows Tennis Institute, Dave Smith and his staff understand this phenomenon. In fact, this pattern of stagnant development by those who possess the potential—yet fail to reach desired levels of skilled play—is the cornerstone of Dave’s new book, Tennis Mastery.
“If players are not provided the clear understanding and meaningful tools related to making significant change, virtually all will return to their old familiar ways upon returning to their home courts,” Dave Smith contends. “The Tennis Institute will instill a sense of permanency and genuine change that will stay with every individual. The result will be TRUE Player Development within each players level of desire and potential.”
Player improvement begins with this comprehension and then expands into the dynamics of hitting—and then playing the game of tennis—within the concept of true player progression.

April 27th, 2004: Ground breaking ceremony for the Summit Athletic Center. The Summit will be home to David W. Smith's St. George Tennis Academy and his national tennis destination training center: Desert Shadows Tennis Institute.
