Who SHOULD Read Tennis Mastery?
Many books are
written with a select audience in mind. Historically, tennis books are no different…until
NOW!
TENNIS MASTERY is written to be both informative and
enjoyed by ALL LEVELS of players. From beginners to top-ranked players, TENNIS
MASTERY offers new insights as well as a new PERSPECTIVE in the arena of tennis
learning.
In addition, TENNIS MASTERY will help tennis
teaching professionals "reach" their students. All to often, players are given
proper instruction only to question such instruction when it doesn’t seem to
‘work’ immediately! For those pros who believe in teaching players the skills
that will lead to true "player development" (as opposed to offering momentary
satisfaction through "instant gratification" techniques), TENNIS MASTERY will
aid in creating a greater level of trust between student and instructor.
Read further on how tennis mastery can help
every level of player... and why you won’t want to miss this revolutionary book!
Tennis Mastery for the Teaching Professional
To those pros who teach not for immediate gratification, but are dedicated to
training students within techniques that are required to reach more advanced
levels of play: Tennis Mastery is designed to help those pros "convince" their
students that such methods will indeed lead to significantly higher levels of
skilled play.
Tennis Mastery does NOT promote transitional
teachings that require students to change from an ‘introductory method’ as higher
levels of skill are desired. On the contrary, Tennis Mastery introduces players
to the "ADVANCED FOUNDATION"…a system of learning that is exactly as the name
implies: Teaching methods that lead directly to Advanced play without specific
changes taking place.
If you have students who come to you and
complain they have not improved in a decade, or if they resist making necessary
changes in their game, then Tennis Mastery is a must for them to read.
Unless you teach specifically to instant
gratification or only teach to appease the student’s (and your!) ego, then you
will be delighted in the message and the methodology presented in Tennis Mastery.
Tennis Pros
who want to convey new ideas to their students will have a true resource that
will reinforce such new strategies; TENNIS MASTERY explains clearly what students
will expect and what the consequences of specific learning practices will have
on their long-term progression.
Tennis Mastery for the Beginning Player
You are in good hands! The tennis "foundations" taught in this book will provide
you with a "linear learning progression". This means that from the first page
of instruction to the last, the learning will build upon each concept. It isn’t
important for you to have the goal of becoming a "world-class" player, (unless
you do indeed want to be a world-class player!) However, as I have mentioned,
one of the mistakes most books make is to assume that players who want to achieve
tennis greatness should be taught differently than those who just want to play
casually or socially. On the contrary! Anyone who wants to learn tennis, should
be taught methods which will not only allow them to play tennis for fun, but
the methods taught should offer them the opportunity for continued improvement
and success AT ANY LEVEL THEY HOPE TO ACHIEVE! Thus, if you are a true beginner
understand that you need not pursue tennis as a career or livelihood! Likewise,
if you have an earnest desire to pursue tennis to your greatest potential, the
methods here will give you the tools and knowledge needed to reach those goals
as well!

There are a wide range of
beginner players who, if they continue to use such beginner or ruedimentary
form, they will never move past such limiting form to achieve a higher level
of tennis ability. Such techniques prevent players from reaching their TRUE
tennis potential!
Tennis Mastery for the "Intermediate"
Player
The "intermediate" player is perhaps the largest segment of those who will be
reading this book. The vast majority of players who indeed purchase instructional
books or videos are those who have been playing tennis at least a little while.
If you have recognized that you are not
improving or you know that you are doing things wrong in hitting a tennis ball,
then you must first understand WHAT you are doing wrong. A lot of players know
that they don’t hit the ball correctly. The problem is that they don’t know
what exactly is wrong with their stroke or form. Tennis is certainly complex
enough that many players may be doing several things wrong on just one stroke!
This concept alone tends to make the intermediate player more resistant to change.
Knowing that several things need to be changed make some players very nervous
about beginning a course of action that they hope will correct the incorrect
methods they possess! The human ego is a very delicate device! Nothing is more
humiliating to an individual than the recognition that not only have they been
doing something wrong…but that they may have been doing it wrong for a LONG
TIME!
After reading Tennis Mastery, you will come
away not only knowing WHAT you have been doing wrong, but you will also head
to the courts with the knowledge of HOW to correct that which is indeed wrong!
The strength of this book lies in the teaching tools and "Key Position Points"
teaching methods that provide ample strategies for you to quickly gain the stroke
foundations needed for continued growth and improvement.
The intermediate player will want a clear
"blueprint" in which to establish a path to follow. Tennis Mastery will provide
all the teaching tools to overcome previous stroke patterns that are fallible.
Also, the depth of intellectual understanding of why certain methods lead to
skilled play and other methods can guarantee a life of perpetual mediocrity!
Too many intermediate players know they are using poor strokes. And many of
these players can recognize proper form and understand what they are doing wrong!
For the vast majority of intermediate players, it is far more comfortable to
hit with poor form we are familiar with and lose than it is to hit with what
we know is proper form yet is uncomfortable.
Look at it this way, if we continue to avoid
that which we are trying to change, we will never change that which we are trying
to avoid! Think about it.
Tennis Mastery will help you come to grips
with the reality of this enigma. And, more importantly, it will give you the
tools to make the transition complete. While dedication and perseverance are
important to making these changes, without the understanding and the proper
instruction, any hard work will be haphazardly spent, and, most likely, be futile
in your quest for becoming a much better player.
Intermediate
players will discover both techniques and playing strategies that will propel
them past "average" levels of play and move them to "skilled"
levels.
Tennis Mastery for the "Advanced" Player
Perhaps the smallest group of readers is
the advanced group. There are several reasons for this. First, advanced players
generally feel they have mastered most of the proper strokes and strategies
in tennis. That is, they believe they have already learned many of the concepts
presented in a book such as this. Second, advanced players believe they should
spend most of their time "fine-tuning" their game on the court. They seldom
feel the need to spend additional time reading about things they think they
already know!
Advanced players are sadly mistaken on both
of these counts. It is even more important for the advanced players to learn
everything they can about tennis. The one item that separates one advanced player
from another might just be a subtle piece of knowledge or strategy that can
only be picked up from such processes. Jimmy Connors once said, "The day you
say you know it all about tennis is the day you do indeed stop learning!" If
you are an advanced player, explore every opportunity to learn more.
Advanced junior players to professionals, TENNIS MASTERY is designed to help any player reach their tennis goals.
